Privacy Policy

Last updated May 6, 2026.

About The Lot is built to give you property research without asking for an account or a payment. This Privacy Policy explains what limited data the site does process when you use it.

Information we collect

  • Addresses you search. When you enter an address, we send it to a geocoding service to convert it to coordinates, then use those coordinates to query public data sources. Addresses are not stored in our database, are not associated with you, and are not used for advertising.
  • Standard server logs. Our hosting provider may log basic request information (IP address, user-agent, timestamp, URL requested) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained briefly and not used to build user profiles.
  • No user accounts. We don't ask for an email, name, or any other personal identifier to use the site.
  • No tracking cookies. The site does not set third-party advertising or analytics cookies. Functional cookies may be used for routing and form behavior; these never leave your browser.

How we use the information

Addresses are used solely to generate your report. Coordinates derived from the address are forwarded to public data services (federal, state, and academic) to look up risk and context information for that location. Server logs are used only to keep the site running and protect it from abuse.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share addresses with third parties for advertising or marketing. The geocoding service and public data APIs we query receive only the coordinate or address needed to answer the query, and only at the moment you generate the report.

Your choices

  • You can use the site without identifying yourself. No login is available or required.
  • You can clear any locally-saved report links from your browser history at any time.
  • California, Colorado, Virginia, and other state residents: because we do not maintain a database of personal information tied to you, there is no profile to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions, reach us via the contact page.

Children

About The Lot is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top.
